Why does after-hours cost more?
Because staffing a genuine 24/7 dispatch has a real cost. What matters is that you are told the premium on the phone before anyone is sent, rather than discovering it on the invoice. If the problem can safely wait until morning, you should be told that and booked at standard rates instead.
Why is the same job more expensive in Bend than in Salem?
Excavation. Deschutes County sits on basalt and volcanic tuff, often at shallow depth, so any work that involves digging costs considerably more than the equivalent in valley soils. Cleaning and inspection work barely differs; anything requiring a trench differs a lot.
Does a camera inspection cost extra on top of a repair?
Commonly it is credited against a repair that follows, but confirm that before booking rather than assuming it. Either way, ask to keep the video — including if you take it to another contractor for a competing bid.
